Ryosuke “Rio” Sakamoto is Senior Deal Manager at Nihon M&A Center Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., where he focuses on cross-border and domestic M&A. He began his career as a management consultant at a leading U.S.-based firm in Tokyo before joining Nihon M&A Center in 2020, first gaining experience in Japan’s domestic M&A market and later moving to the cross-border division.
Born in Singapore, raised in Egypt, and Japanese by nationality, Rio brings a distinctive global perspective to his work. Now based in Kuala Lumpur with his family, he is deeply committed to supporting Malaysian SMEs in succession planning and growth strategies, while continuing to connect Japanese investors with opportunities in ASEAN. His experience spans ASEAN cross-border transactions, Malaysian domestic deals, listed-company carve-outs, European acquisitions, and fund exits.
