Senior Consultant
Sem is a Senior Consultant at Nihon M&A Center Malaysia, where he has been advising Malaysian SMEs on strategic mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and succession planning since 2022.
He began his career in banking, building on a strong foundation in banking and finance, and specialized in higher-risk lending such as equity-backed lending (shares margin financing) and leveraged financing for local and regional corporate M&A transactions.
Prior to joining Nihon M&A Center Malaysia, Sem was part of CIMB’s Corporate Banking division, where he worked on sizeable transactions across mature industries. His role allowed him to deepen his expertise in structuring complex financing solutions tailored to the unique needs of SMEs.
Motivated by Malaysia’s demographic shifts such as an ageing population and declining birth rate, Sem transitioned into the M&A advisory space. Leveraging his solid banking background, he is committed to helping Malaysian SMEs navigate succession challenges and pursue sustainable, long-term growth in a changing business landscape.
