Ben Cheah

Ben is a Buy-side M&A Consultant with experience spanning private equity, global banking, business development, and portfolio management.
He began his career at a boutique private equity firm as an analyst intern, where he conducted due diligence and financial analysis to support the strategic growth initiatives of portfolio companies across the retail and manufacturing sectors. He subsequently joined HSBC Bank Malaysia Berhad’s Global Banking division, where he contributed to business development initiatives and gained exposure to Debt Capital Markets, including bond and sukuk transactions, through a short-term assignment.
Prior to joining Nihon M&A Center Malaysia, he served as a Business Development & Investment Analyst at a prominent British boarding school in Malaysia, where he oversaw the school’s summer camp business and supported initiatives aimed at driving revenue growth.
Building on this experience, and leveraging his proficiency in Japanese and his understanding of Japanese business culture, Ben advises business owners and companies on M&A and cross-border transactions. He helps acquirers grow through strategic acquisition by identifying and securing the right targets across Malaysia,the wider ASEAN region and Japan, and supports companies and institutional investors, including private equity firms, seeking to invest into ASEAN and Japan. His work centers on helping businesses pursue long-term strategic growth.
